To think that the Creator of all and the Savior of the world knows me by name is breathtaking. Compared to all who have lived, are living and will live, I am known and will be known by very few people. Many become enraptured by the thought of a famous actor, musician, or writer knowing their name. Even Christians become engaged in this thought process with other Christian figures, speakers or pastors. They seek out those individuals and follow them closely. They try to pattern their life or lifestyle after them. The thought of this person who has been deemed "famous" knowing their name seems to encapsulate their life, even to the point of following that individual no matter how far away from the truth of Scriptures they have strayed.
But there is Someone far greater than the humans we place above the rest. One who truly knows your name. Who knows you completely. Knows your frailties, your weaknesses, your insecurities, your abilities, your strengths. He knows you, and truly loves you no matter who you are. He calls you by name to follow Him, to live a life that is patterned after Him, and to let him fully capture you heart and mind that your life may point others to Him.
Jesus truly knows your name. He will never change and the truth of His Word will never change. And it is because of His name that we have victory in this life and hope of His return.
Rather than being so consumed by men, be consumed by the thought of Jesus knowing you and spend your life knowing Him, loving Him, and serving Him.
Isaiah 43:1 "But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine."
John 10:3-4 "To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice."
John 10:14 "I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine."
Exodus 33:17 "And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name."
